Since SI entered the Katrina Disaster zone in August 2005, over 5000 volunteers from 42 states worked on 883 sites and projects across Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana. Volunteer teams from 77 different organizations removed debris, cleared out mud and muck, cleaned, and restored these sites, each team picking up where previous teams had left off in the rebuilding process.
Today along the Gulf Coastthanks to thousands of dedicated Service International volunteers and partnersthere are hundreds of grateful families who once again have homes and hope for the future.

In the summer of 2004, the state of Florida was hit by four hurricanes. SI teams were quick to respond to the disasters. To date, SI has sent four teams consisting of over 200 volunteers to Florida to clean up and rebuild. The groups worked on over 150 projects, doing everything from removing debris, to putting tarps on roofs, to building three homes from the ground up. SI's relief efforts in Florida have truly brought hope to the people of Florida.
Service International has completed a wide range of projects in this war-torn nation. Our work in Kosovo began in 1999 with the building of temporary shelters and repairing roofs, and we are still there. Service International is now running a dental and medical clinic, has built a school for 350 students from the ground up, and runs a vacation Bible school for 1000 children in the Gjakova area. SI has plans for more outreaches in Kosovo. For a calendar of upcoming trips to Kosovo, click here.
Give Kids a Smile
With the help of Service International, Give Kids a Smile went from a local project to more than 5000 locations across the nation. SI volunteers provide logistical support and lunches for the program. Volunteers also stay with the kids between dental appointments, keeping them entertained before seeing dentists. 3380 children have been treated in seven events, totaling over $900,000 in donated dental care.
